Sarah's pov
"Sarah, jaldi utho" I heard Kavya's voice.
(Sarah, wake up fast)
"Just 5 more minutes" I whispered, moving my blanket over my head and covering my face.
"No!" she said and pulled the blanket down. "It's your haldi, you need to get ready."
I got up and sat on my bed. "Mene bola tha subah subah 4 baje uthao mujhe?" I asked her.
(Did I ask everyone to wake me up at 4?)
"Mene bola tha shaadi karo?" She replied, laughing.
(Did I ask you to get married?)
"Chalo, now get up" she instructed me as she pulled out my haldi outfit from the closet.
"Ek to yeh kaleere bohot pareshan kar rahe hai yaar" I whined, complaining like a kid.
(These kaleeras are disturbing me a lot)
"Han han, bohot pareshan karte hai, koi baat nahi, chalo chalo, khade ho," she said while making me stand from my bed and push me towards the washroom.
(Yes yes, they disturb a lot, but it's okay now wake up fast)
With a sigh, I entered the washroom and got ready.
As I stepped out of the washroom all ready, I looked at my reflection in the mirror. I was wearing a Patola print lehenga with a colour combination of fuchsia and honey.
I did very minimal makeup myself because what's the point of getting ready too much when I'll be covered in haldi?
Once I was done with my makeup, I heard a knock on my door.
"It's open," I said and saw Kavya entering the room all dolled up in a yellow kurta with a basket in her hand.
"What's this?" I asked her as she placed it on the dressing table in front of me.
"Have you checked your phone?" She asked.
"No," I replied.
She went towards the bedside table and got my phone.
"Here, this is from your husband, and he even called you, but you weren't picking up the call, so he called me like a million times to keep a check on you, though I told him you were getting ready, oh god, that man," she said in one breath, then took a deep breath.
I excitedly took the basket and placed it on my lap.
"Also, everyone's waiting, so come downstairs quickly," she said. I nodded, and she left the room.
The basket was covered with yellow and white mesh and adorned with sunflowers.
I opened it eagerly and found a note inside. As I unfolded it, my heart raced with anticipation.
"Good morning, Ms. Sharma, or should I say soon-to-be Mrs. Malhotra.
I can't even express how slow and torturous these few hours are for me. I just want you by my side as soon as possible, bee. Once you get ready, send me a picture. Please don't keep me waiting. And I hope you like the surprise.
Well, there's one more for you. Look at your window at 3... 2... 1..."
My eyes snapped towards my room's window, and I saw Agam standing there, waving at me. A gasp left my mouth, and I rushed towards the window to let him in.
"Good morning, baby," he said as he came inside.
"What are you doing here? How did you even get here? Did anyone see you?" I started bombarding him with questions.
His hands found their way to my waist, pulling me closer for a kiss. As his lips met mine, a rush of warmth spread through me, calming something inside me that I never knew I was worried about.
His hands trailed from my waist to my back, tracing patterns on my bare skin, sending shivers down my spine as I melted into his embrace. I could feel him nibbling on my lower lip, lost in the sensation of his lips moving against mine. My hands instinctively found their way to his shoulders, pulling him closer.
As the intensity of the moment increased, I struggled to match his pace. I needed a moment to catch my breath and lock my door, as I couldn't risk anyone seeing us like this. Attempting to wiggle out of his hold proved futile; he was unwilling to let go. After a few failed attempts, I gently tapped on his shoulders, feeling breathless. With a soft peck, he moved his lips away but remained close to me, enveloping me in his arms.
"Agam," I whined.
"Yes, bee?" he replied, kissing my forehead.
"Why are you here?" I asked.
"Because I wanted to see you," he replied.
"And whose great idea was it for you to climb through the window? Couldn't you just use the door like a normal person?" I asked, teasingly.
"They wouldn't let me meet you," he said with a smile.
"Okay, now let me go. I have to lock the door," I said, but he raised his eyebrows and gave me a teasing look.
"Oh god! Stop it, you desperate person. What if someone comes in? What if someone sees?" I said as I pushed him slightly and turned around to go lock the door. But he pulled me back, and I felt his chest against my back, his arms around my waist. His lips brushed against my neck, sending shivers down my spine as I felt his warm breath.
Then he whispered in my ear, "If I show my desperation, you won't be able to attend the function they're preparing for downstairs."
I swallowed hard as his words echoed in my mind. "Now go lock the door, bee" he whispered again, planting a kiss on my ear. I nodded and made my way to the door, locking it behind me.
As I turned around, he stood just behind me, my head bumping against his firm chest. His hands moved to the back of my neck, pulling me in for another kiss, but before our lips could meet, we heard a knock on the door.
"Sarah! Hurry up, dear," Mumma's voice came through, and Agam instantly stepped away from me, as if she could see us, which made me laugh.
"Sure, Mumma," I replied, stifling my laughter. As mumma demanded to open the door Agam motioned towards the window, but I grabbed his arm, halting him. Just then, Kavya's voice broke the silence.
"Are aunty aap yha? They're calling you downstairs” she said.
"Okay, bring Sarah downstairs, it's getting late” Mumma instructed.
With Mumma gone, there was a tense silence until Kavya whispered loudly, "Open the door, both of you! Aunty has left."
I opened the door, revealing Kavya glaring at me, clearly annoyed.
Kavya entered the room and slammed the door. "What are you doing here?" she asked Agam.
"I-I was here to give her instructions about her medicines” Agam stammered, which made me laugh.
"Is she a child? Couldn't you explain that over the phone?" Kavya bombarded him with questions.
"Alright, Kavya, sorry, he's just about to leave” I interjected.
"Yeah, I'm just heading out” Agam added.
"But how? Everyone's out on the front lawn for the haldi function, and you conveniently parked your car right in front of the house” Kavya pointed out.
"Can you two stop shouting and relax a bit?" We heard Kay's voice from outside.
Kavya opened the door to let her in. "Here, loverboy," she said, tossing Agam's car keys to him.
"These are mine. How did you get these?" Agam asked in surprise.
"You were so busy being Romeo that you didn't even notice your car key slipping out of your pocket," Kay replied.
"I've packed your car at the back gate, and everyone's busy in the front. Now move quickly," Kay continued.
"Not like that! Follow me," Kavya instructed him as she left the room.
"Oh wait! Bee, come here," he said, pulling me towards my bed where the basket was kept. "This is tiramisu for you. Do eat it before going downstairs, and these are a few multivitamins that the doctor has prescribed for you. Do take them as well," he explained, but I was just looking at him.
"Are you listening to me?" he asked.
"Yeah," I replied and placed a soft peck on his cheek, I could see a red hue taking over his face
"Now bye, I love you," he said, kissing my forehead and left the room.
After finishing my tiramisu, I went downstairs, and the haldi function started.

I was already in my red lehenga, waiting in my hotel room for Kavya and Kyle to call me. I instructed them to come whenever it was time for me to head there because earlier, when Mumma came, we both had a good crying session, and I had to get my makeup redone. I can't take that risk again.
I heard a knock, and with that, the door swung open. "Oh my god, bhabhi, you look so pretty!" Aashna squealed in excitement, followed by Krutika. "Yes, bhabhi, you are looking absolutely gorgeous."
"Thank you, and look at you two, so pretty!" I returned the compliment.
"Oho, ladke vaale yahaan se bahar jaye zara," we heard Kavya's voice as she entered the room.
(The groom's side should go out of the room)
"Kya, Kavya bhabhi, hum to starting se team Sarah bhabhi hai na," Aashna replied.
(What, kavya bhabhi, we have had team Sarah since the start)
"We'll see your loyalty at the time of joota chhupai," Kavya replied teasingly.
We all burst into laughter when I noticed Kay entering the room. Her expression was as blank as if she had just seen a ghost, her eyes wide with shock or perhaps disbelief.
"Sarah, I need to talk to you," she said, her voice slow yet stern.
Kavya glanced at her and then at me. I nodded, and she said, "Chalo aashna, let's see bahar ki preparations."
"Yes bhabhi," Aashna and Krutika went outside the room with Kavya.
"What happened, Kay?" I asked her.
"Sit down” she replied.
"You're scaring me now” I said as I sat on the bed.
"You can't marry him.” she said abruptly, causing the surroundings to blur. For a moment, I couldn't hear her explanations; every voice around me seemed muffled, and the only words ringing in my head were the few she had just said.
