The morning sunlight streamed through the wide windows of our villa, casting a warm glow over everything. I stretched lazily in bed, feeling the crisp, cool sheets under me. Kavya was already up, her suitcase open as she pulled out outfits, humming softly to herself.
"Kya plan hai aaj ka?" I asked, sitting up and running a hand through my messy hair.
(What is the plan for today?)
"Sightseeing and shopping" Kavya grinned, holding up a light blue halter neck top. "You know I've planned everything."
Of course, she had. Kavya was always the organized one, ensuring every detail was thought out in advance. I smiled, rolling out of bed and heading to the wardrobe to pick out my outfit. I finally settled on a white flowy dress with tiny flowers printed on it, the perfect blend of comfort and style for a day like today. It was light and breezy and made me feel at peace.
When I stepped out of the room, the other girls were already gathering in the living area, dressed in their chic outfits.
Kavya looked effortlessly stylish in her light blue halter neck top paired with white linen pants. "You look like you were made for Mykonos" I teased, making her laugh.
Lara had gone for a simple but classic sky-blue shirt dress, which looked perfect for a day of sightseeing. "This colour looks amazing on you"
I complimented her and she gave me a quick twirl in response.
Krutika, always chic and minimalistic, had chosen an ivory shirt dress. She tied it at the waist, giving it a sharp, polished look that screamed confidence. "You look like you own Mykonos" I said with a grin.
Kyle was wearing a striking orange-red printed tube dress, her hair tied up in a messy bun. "Damn, Kay! You're bringing the heat today" I said, giving her an approving nod.
She grinned back, adjusting her messy bun. "Of course! What's a vacation without a little drama in the wardrobe?"
And then there was Aashna, always the fashion-forward one in the group. She'd chosen a floral-printed pink tube top paired with a white skirt and a straw hat. It was the kind of look that only a fashion designer like her could pull off without a second thought.
"Ahem! That hat's on point" I said, as she tipped her hat with a smirk. "Honestly, I should be taking notes."
Aashna laughed softly. "Please bhabhi, you're looking perfect in that dress. It suits you so well."
We gathered around the dining table for breakfast—fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, honey, and warm croissants. The light conversation flowed easily, with the morning sun casting a soft glow over us as we talked about the day ahead.
"Kavya, are you going to tell us what's on the itinerary or are you still keeping it all a secret?" Lara asked, giving her a playful nudge.
Kavya just grinned, clearly enjoying the mystery she had woven around the trip. "You'll see. I promise it'll be fun."
After breakfast, we headed outside to where our car was waiting. The day was perfect, sunny but not too hot, the cool breeze making the air feel fresh. As we piled into the car, I glanced around at my friends, all of us dressed in our pretty summer dresses, the excitement palpable.
The roads of Mykonos, winding and dotted with whitewashed buildings, stretched out before us as we began our day of exploring. My dress fluttered gently in the wind as I leaned back in my seat, feeling completely at peace.
Kavya was right—this was exactly what we needed. A day out, dressed in our best, ready to soak in the beauty of this paradise.
The cool ocean breeze hit my face as we stepped onto the beach, the sound of waves gently crashing against the shore in the background. The beach was postcard-perfect, golden sands, clear turquoise waters, and just the right amount of people to feel alive but not crowded. We took it all in, our feet sinking into the warm sand as we walked toward the water.
"Alright ladies, it's time for a photo shoot!" Aashna announced, pulling out her phone.
We spent what felt like hours just taking pictures. Some posed, some candid and plenty of group shots with the ocean behind us. Aashna and Krutika were especially in their element, directing us into perfect positions for Instagram-worthy shots. Every few minutes, the sound of laughter filled the air as one of us made a goofy pose or photobombed the other.
"Bhabhi, thoda smile karo yaar!" Krutika called out, snapping my picture just as I looked away, lost in the scenery.
(Smile a bit more, Bhabhi!)
I laughed and struck a silly pose, feeling the joy and lightness of the moment. The sun glistened on the water, and everything felt carefree, almost like a dream.
After a while, we made our way to the car and headed toward Panagia Paraportiani, one of Mykonos' most iconic landmarks. The whitewashed church stood shining under the sun, its stunning curves and edges making it seem as if it were sculpted by hand. We roamed around, admiring its architecture, each of us lost in our thoughts while still sharing stories and inside jokes. Aashna, as usual, clicked away, capturing every beautiful corner.
Kavya leaned over to me as we stood near the church. "Do you think Agam and Akshit would like this place?"
I smiled softly, nodding. "Yeah, they would've loved it. Maybe we'll come back here someday."
A part of me wondered if Agam was thinking about me right now as much as I was thinking about him. I even tried contacting him, but there was no response. I did speak to alloo, but he was also not talking much. I miss them already
The moment passed quickly as the girls started pulling me toward our next stop—Matogianni Street. It was as vibrant as I'd imagined, lined with boutique stores, designer outlets, and cafés. The cobbled streets were alive with the hum of shoppers, tourists, and locals all mingling together in this luxurious shopping paradise. We browsed through store after store, each of us picking out outfits, accessories and souvenirs. It felt like we were kids in a candy store, the girls had their hands full of bags from all the shopping and still wanted to do more of it.
As we continued walking down the street, I stopped abruptly in front of the Hermès store. My eyes were drawn to a beige bag displayed inside the window. It was simple yet elegant, with intricate detailing on the edges that made it stand out from the rest. The kind of bag that would elevate any outfit without trying too hard.
I stood there for a moment, just admiring it. Something about it spoke to me—it was classic, timeless, and, for some reason, made me think of Agam.
Kavya noticed I'd stopped and came over, glancing at the bag. "You like it?"
I nodded. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
"More than beautiful. You should get it."
"Umm I don't know" I said and moved past the store
The warm breeze brushed against my face as I walked through the narrow streets of Mykonos, trying to distract myself. I hadn't seen Sarah all morning, and the restlessness gnawed at me. My feet moved without much thought, weaving through crowds of tourists and locals, until I spotted her, my bee.
She was standing outside a store, her eyes locked on something in the display window. I stopped, watching her from a distance. Her hair was tied back, a few loose strands catching the light, and the way her gaze lingered on whatever was behind the glass told me she was captivated.
I followed her eyes and saw it—a bag. She seemed lost in thought, studying every detail. I could see her mind working, debating whether she should get it.
For a moment, I thought she'd go inside. But she didn't. With a small shake of her head, Bee gave the bag one last glance and walked away.
I let out a breath I didn't even realize I'd been holding. Watching her walk away like that did something inside me. I decided before I even thought about it. I was buying that bag.
I walked straight to the window and asked the saleswoman for the bag. As she handed it to me, I ran my fingers over the leather, imagining Sarah's reaction when she saw it. The thought of surprising her brought a smile to my face.
After a quick transaction, I tucked the bag under my arm and headed toward the exit. Just as I stepped out of the store, my heart dropped.
Aashna and Krutika were walking in.
I froze, my grip tightening on the bag. My instinct kicked in—I ducked behind the nearest pillar, hoping neither of them had noticed me. For a moment, I stood there, peeking out carefully, and my heart sank when I saw Aashna's eyes glance in my direction. We made brief eye contact.
"Shit!" I murmured
She didn't seem to react at first, still caught up in her conversation with Krutika. But I knew Aashna too well. She had seen me. My eyes darted back to the door. Should I make a run for it?
"I could swear I just saw Bhai" Aashna said, her voice casual but with a hint of confusion.
Krutika snorted, not bothering to look up from the dresses she was browsing through. "You're daydreaming, Aash. Bhai is probably halfway across the globe doing who knows what."
I silently prayed she'd take Krutika's word for it. Aashna let out a soft laugh, shaking her head. "Maybe you're right."
I let out a slow breath, feeling the tension ease from my shoulders. Too close. I stepped back further into the shadows, gripping the bag tightly as I waited for the perfect moment to make my escape.
But just when I thought I was in the clear, a hand landed firmly on my shoulder.
I nearly jumped out of my skin, spinning around, ready to defend myself. Standing behind me was Akshit, arms crossed, with an amused look on his face.
"Running from someone?" he asked, eyebrow raised.
I glanced over at Aashna and Krutika, still lost in their conversation, before looking back at Akshit. "They almost saw me."
Akshit tilted his head, a smirk playing on his lips. "How long do you think you can keep dodging them? They'll figure out we're here eventually."
"Not today," I muttered, my pulse still racing. "We need to go before they realize."
With a quick nod, Akshit gestured toward the door, and we slipped out of the store as casually as we could. Once we were outside, I finally let out the breath I had been holding. But I still felt a little on edge. Aashna wasn't the type to forget things easily. She'd probably ask me about this later.
We turned the corner and spotted Raghuveer and Abhigyan lounging outside a cafe, looking relaxed. Raghuveer caught sight of me and Akshit, raising an eyebrow as he took a sip from his iced coffee.
"What's with the face?" Raghuveer asked, clearly amused by my expression.
"He almost got busted" Akshit answered for me, a grin still tugging at the corners of his lips.
Abhigyan laughed, shaking his head. "It has been just a few hours and you're already the weak one"
"Not exactly what I had in mind for this trip"Â I grumbled, running a hand through my hair. "This was supposed to be about keeping them safe, not trying to dodge them every five seconds"
Raghuveer stood up, stretching lazily. "Maybe we should head back to the villa before your luck runs out. We don't want them finding out we're here too soon."
The others agreed quickly, and we all began walking back toward the villa. My mind was still stuck on the close call with Aashna. I could picture the look on her face if she'd realized I was there, sneaking around behind their back. She'd never let me live it down.
As we reached the villa, I glanced down at the bag I'd bought for Sarah. The surprise would be worth it. But I had to be more careful. If Aashna was already suspicious, it was only a matter of time before she pieced things together. This wasn't going to be as easy as I thought.
The sun was beginning to dip, casting a warm glow over the streets as we gathered in the little square we had agreed upon earlier. I spotted Aashna and Krutika first, both weighed down by a mountain of shopping bags, their faces flushed with excitement.
"Look at all this bhabhi!" Aashna exclaimed, holding up yet another bag as she joined us. "Krutika and I may have gone a little overboard."
Krutika grinned, adjusting her grip on the bags. "Understatement of the century."
I smiled, shaking my head as I looked down at my empty hands. Kavya and I had spent the afternoon sightseeing, soaking in the beauty of the island. I loved just wandering, feeling the breeze on my skin, and taking in the atmosphere. Shopping could wait.
"Well, at least you two made the most of the day" I teased, glancing over at Kavya, who was equally unburdened by shopping.
Kavya shrugged, laughing. "We were too busy getting lost in the streets. I swear, Mykonos is like a maze."
Just then, Lara joined us, her arms also full of shopping bags. "You two missed out. There were some really cute stores."
"We'll do our damage tomorrow" I replied, grinning.
Before we could get any deeper into the conversation, Kay arrived with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "You guys will not believe what I just found out!"
We all turned to her, curiosity piqued.
"There's this amazing club, not too far from here. I heard it's the place to be tonight" Kay said, excitement bubbling in her voice.
I have never seen her this excited about anything maybe it's the air here that has made her all bubbly and lively
"Club?" I asked, hesitating for a moment. "I thought we were sticking to the plan."
Kavya shot me a knowing look. "It wasn't on the itinerary, Kay. You know am with my plans."
Kay waved her hand dismissively. "Forget the itinerary for one night!, This place is supposed to be incredible. Trust me, it'll be worth it."
I glanced at the others. Lara and Aashna were already nodding eagerly and Krutika's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Kavya bit her lip, confused between her love of organization and the temptation of a spontaneous night out. As for me, I wasn't sure, But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how much fun it could be to do something unexpected, to just let go for a night.
"Come on bhabhi" Aashna urged, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "It'll be fun! Just one night off-plan."
I sighed, but a smile crept onto my face. "Alright, fine. Let's do it."
The girls erupted in cheers, and even Kavya couldn't hold back her laughter as she threw her hands up in defeat. "Okay, okay! Let's head back to the villa and start getting ready."
Back at the villa, the excitement was contagious. We scattered into our rooms to change but it wasn't long before we all ended up in Kavya's and my room, squeezing in front of the large mirror to get ready together. Lara was lying on the bed, stretching out, while Kay and Krutika rummaged through their makeup bags.
Kavya shook her head, laughing as she stood in front of the mirror, trying to find space between all of us. "We have four rooms, and we're all getting ready like this. What was even the point?"
I grinned at her reflection, applying some eyeliner. "Because it's more fun this way, obviously."
The energy in the room was buzzing as we did our makeup and tried on outfits. Kay was fixing her hair, adjusting the black leather corset top she'd paired with a mini skirtcoloursuited her perfectly. "What do you think?" she asked, turning to face us.
"You look hot" Lara said, laughing as she rolled off the bed to grab her embellished halter-neck top. She paired it with blue wide-leg jeans, adding just the right amount of sparkle to her outfit.
Aashna and Krutika had decided to twin tonight, both wearing ruched dresses. Aashna's was black, hugging her frame perfectly, while Krutika had chosen the same design in a rich brown. They both looked stunning.
Kavya stood next to me, slipping into a red satin dress that clung to her in all the right places. It was elegant, soft, and screamed sophistication. "I'm going full glam tonight" she said with a wink.
And then there was me. I'd chosen a simple look—a tube top with sleek leather pants. The outfit felt like the right balance between edgy and comfortable, and I had to admit, I loved how it came together.
Once we were all ready, we grabbed a quick snack in our room, laughing and chatting the whole time. It felt like a sleepover as if we were kids, all of us huddled together in front of one mirror, trading beauty tips and teasing each other.
As we finally stepped out of the villa, ready for the night ahead, I couldn't help but smile to myself. Spontaneity wasn't usually my thing, but with these girls anything was possible.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The moment we stepped into the club, the music hit us like a wave. It was loud, vibrating through the air and somehow instantly infectious.
Even though I wasn't much of a party person, the beat was groovy and I couldn't help but tap my feet as we walked in. The place was packed.
People dancing, laughing, drinks in hand. The lights flickered in rhythmic sync with the music and it felt like a different world compared to the quiet streets outside.
Kay led us through the crowd to a table she had booked near the bar. It was a prime spot, close enough to the dance floor but with just enough distance to give us some space. We ordered drinks and a few snacks, easing into the atmosphere. The others were already excited about hitting the dance floor and I had to admit, the energy was contagious.
I was still adjusting to the buzz of the club when Kavya leaned over to me, smiling. "Ready for the dance floor?" she teased, her eyes bright with anticipation.and
I laughed. "Let's see how long I last."
We made our way toward the bar, intending to grab a last-minute drink of course a non alcoholic one, before joining the others. But just as Kavya and I reached the counter, two men approached us. Their eyes were focused on us in a way that made me uncomfortable immediately.
"Can we buy you a drink?" one of them asked, his voice smooth but unsettling.
I exchanged a quick glance with Kavya, and we both smiled politely, shaking our heads. "No thanks, we're good" I said.
The man didn't seem to take the hint. He leaned in a little closer, a sleazy grin stretching across his face. "Come on, don't be shy. Just one drink."
"We said no" Kavya replied firmly, her voice slightly tense.
But the men kept pushing, stepping closer to us with every refusal. I could feel the discomfort growing between us. I tugged at Kavya's arm, whispering, "Let's get out of here."
We left the bar, making our way back to our table, but the guys followed us, still hovering too close. My stomach churned, and I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling creeping up my spine.
Just as we sat down, Kyle appeared out of nowhere, sliding into the seat next to Kavya. Her eyes darted between us and the men hovering too close for comfort. She took in the situation instantly, her face hardening.
"You know these guys?" she asked, her tone sharp and unamused.
Before either of us could answer, one of the men smirked, "A drink's the best way to introduce ourselves, isn't it?"
Kyle's eyes narrowed as she turned toward us. "How many times have they offered?" she asked.
"Too many" I muttered, while Kavya added, "We've said no, a lot."
Kyle's jaw clenched and without another word, she stood up and faced the men. In one swift, almost unnoticed movement, she took out a small gun from her side, pressing it firmly against the chest of the man closest to her, so that no one in the crowded club could see.
"I won't think twice before shoving this down your throat if you don't back off" she said with a smile on her face, her voice calm and terrifyingly composed.
The man's face drained of color, his smirk disappearing instantly. His friend panicked and disappeared into the crowd, but the one with the gun pressed to his chest froze with his eyes wide in shock.
Kyle stepped even closer, the barrel of the gun still between them. Her lips barely moved as she whispered, "You wanted an introduction, right? How about a dance?"
He didn't move, too stunned to respond. Kyle's voice was a low command. "Dance."
He gulped, trembling slightly, but before he could even react, two gunshots echoed through the club against the blasting music.
I flinched and before I knew what was happening, the man in front of Kyle collapsed onto the floor, his leg bleeding.
My vision got blurry for a minute as chaos erupted around us. People screamed, shoving their way out of the club, tables overturned, glasses shattered. I could hear the girls Aashna, Krutika, and Lara, shouting our names, running toward us in a panic.
"Kya ho raha hai bhabhi?" Aashna cried, her face pale as she reached us.
(What is happening, bhabhi?)
"Aap log thik ho?" Krutika asked, her voice shaking as she grabbed my arm, pulling me closer.
(Are you guys okay?)
Kyle didn't move, her eyes scanning the club, searching for the source of the gunfire. "It wasn't me" she muttered, her jaw tight as she held her gun.
Before we could make sense of anything, the club was completely emptied, people scrambling for the exits. Sirens blared in the distance, and my heart sank.
In a blur of motion, the police stormed in, armed and ready, their eyes immediately locking on Kyle. Her gun had been drawn just moments earlier, and they didn't hesitate to apprehend all of us, shouting orders we barely understood in the confusion.
Aashna and Krutika clung to Kavya, whispering in panicked voices. I could barely hear them over the ringing in my ears, but I caught Aashna's words.
"Bhabhi, yeh kya ho gaya? Hum toh bas party karne aaye the!"
(Bhabhi, what just happened? We just came here to party)
I swallowed hard, looking over at Kyle, who was staring down at the man on the floor, his leg still bleeding. "I don't know" I whispered, my heart pounding. "I don't know what just happened."
We were all taken outside, our hands raised as the police surrounded us. The night that had begun with laughter and excitement had turned into something far darker, and I had no idea how we were going to explain ourselves.
They pushed us inside the van, that's when Kavya said "You can't take us like that"
The officer took out a machine and made Kyle blow on it
"You guys are drunk and armed, I am pretty sure we can take you" he said
"We are lawyers, we know-" before Kavya could finish he cut her off
"Yeah and I am batman ladies" and shut the door
